This is a moth for a Kraft Dinner commercial. I modelled the moth initially in Clay 3d, Uv'ed in modo, textured in Zbrush. I added the fur In shave and haircut as a test. It was changed later down the road for the final commercial, as well as dropped for some shots.

Anne Frank Heads: work in progress

These are all base meshes ( except the outer most character on the right side, which was not going to be in the movie ) of work in progress characters heads in the movie Dear Anne. They were done in mid to late 2004, and they have been since refined and changed by other artists, two of them are Sebastian Schoellhammer, and Jonas Thornqvist. There was a number of other characters done as well which I didn't include here as they were the early ones and quite frankly, needed work.

The only character which has even the slightest bit of zbrush applied to him is the outer most right character.

The hair is just stand in geometry, as well as the textures. Both were needed to get a better and faster idea of what the character was going to look like, and if we were going in the right direction.

Black Scorpion

This scorpion was made for the introduction sequence of the movie Ye-Yan. During festival release it was named "The Banquet", and then when it finally hit release on dvd in america it was renamed once again to "The Legend of the Black Scorpion".

This scorpion was modelled entirely in Clay3d, with uvs done in Modo, and additional details and texture made within Zbrush.

I made this around march of 2006.

This was made for a Toyota commercial back in 2007. In the end product, only the bottom portion of the arm is visible due to the framing. This was pretty much entirely made within modo 203 as far as I remember. There were other set pieces modelled for the commercial but this the one that had most time spent on it, so I like it most.

It looks a bit better close up. The texture was changed to look as if the creature has been corrupted by some form of organism ( as you can see on its back. )

I had to leave the model soon after due to work and freelance picking up. However, with the ZBrush 3.0 announcement, I thought that I would take the model a little further, so I gave him a ZBrush pass. So I spent about 5 hours on that, and touched him up in Photoshop.

The Night Banquet

So, finally the movie has been released overseas and it looks like its ok to show a few images on things that i worked on earlier this year. My role on this movie was to take existing designs which were both elaborate and vague in a number of areas, and build a palace in 3d that we could use as a set extension ( as well as props/ and the scorpion ). Special props go to ( in no order of importance except rob and gene cuz they helped sooo damn much, so they go first ) Robert Gennings, Gene Dreitser, Anthony DeChellis, Garfie Jones, Jordan Nieuwland, Sean O’Hara, Phil Jones, Kyle Burris, Alex Stefan, all the compositors at Technicolor|Vfx who helped with texturing the palace, and Brent George who allowed me to manage/organize pretty much the entire creation of the palace, and most props.

( if i forgot any names, don’t shoot! )

The night shots are matte paintings by Jordan Nieuwland using our provided model/s and lighting.

The majority of the modelling was done inside Maya and Modo, with Houdini doing all the procedural stuff like roofs, outer walls that travel over hills, bricks, etc. the entire assembly happened within Houdini as well, and it was rendered using Mantra.

here are a few more pictures ( the images are a bit wide, so youll have to scroll over to see the full thing. )
